As I was flipping through the pages of the Hindu paper this morning I caught sight of a fabulous heading.."SENTENCED TO LIVE"..It was about the film Naan Kadavul..The caption disturbed me for a long time, but what attracted me was the sense that was incorporated in it which could be viewed for both sides of the coin of life. It could be a positive where the one is specially chosen and sentenced to live to destroy adharma in the materialistic world or it could be negative where one is caught up in the worldly existence and has no way of escape from it.. Sometimes we are just forced to live this life which we think is meaningful. There is this position where you realise that all your life you have lived for others and feel bad for it. But since you have been living like that you have got accustomed to it and you now try to forgo your ego that you cannot live for yourself but whoaa..... you realise that you cannot do that...you just cant get to live anymore for others nor can you live for yourself now. Forgiveness is the virtue of god..Im human..That's what I call being sentenced to live!

Have you heard about the lovely person called Ms. Gladys Staines, the wife of Mr. Graham Staines, an Australian missionary who was burnt alive by a communal gang led by Dara Singh. Along with him the gang also burnt two of their sons, aged 7 and 9. Later Dara Singh was captured and was given capital punishment. It was at this juncture Ms. Gladys gave a statement in an interview: I FORGIVE THE ONE WHO KILLED MY HUSBAND AND MY SONS. Dara Singh's punishment was reduced to life imprisonment.
An ordinary human person also can forgive.
watch the movie to understand better the caption 'Sentenced to live'...
That statement from Gladys Staines was not forgiveness to Dara Singh. He was given a punishment which is worse that death. She is not an ordinary woman.
And I just wrote what I felt about the caption, not the movie. Im coming across such a phrase for the first time and so was captivated by it.
Gladys Staines was an ordinary woman till she gave that interview.
Only after that she was recognized to be someone different. No one is born a saint. You evolve into a saint.
Moreover life without forgiveness would be a real hell.
Do you not forgive your mother for some troubles she had given you? The answer would reveal the wonderful fact: To forgive is very simple, provided your love for the other party is strong.
